Our Premier Catering Kitchen


We’d like to tell you about Essential Chefs Catering. We are the premier caterer in the Merrimack Valley serving the north shore of MA and Boston, southern NH, and southern Maine. Our catering kitchen is located locally. It is a state-of-the-art, full-service commercial kitchen and storage facility equipped with top-of-the-line commercial equipment with separate cooking and baking sections; on-site dry, cold, and frozen storage areas; and a packaging area.

Enjoy Culinary Classes in our catering kitchen or in the comfort of your own home. Learn the Essential Cooking Skills that will prepare you for a lifetime of great cooking—work side-by-side with our executive chefs and with other students to prepare each dish. The minimum is ten students.

Chefs John and Dan Martin have over fifty years of executive chef and catering experience between them. Essential Chefs Catering’s artistry combined with our years of experience drives our fresh and innovative approach to event planning. From nouveau cuisine to the environmentally-conscious “Farm to Fork” concept, we create events with innovation, creativity, exceptional flavor, and impeccable presentation. Essential Chefs Catering constantly evolves and stays ahead of the newest culinary trends, tastes, style, and presentation. Because of our clients’ confidence in us, they return again and again.

Who we are ?
Chef John Martin is a graduate of Johnson & Wales Culinary School and has been in the restaurant and catering business for over thirty-five years. John was the executive chef of various resort hotels and fine dining establishments such as the Colonial Hilton Resort in Wakefield, MA and The Colonial Inn in Concord, MA. He was the co-founder of Brew Moon Enterprises in Boston – an upscale multi-unit microbrewery concept – and the executive chef at The Boston Andover Wyndham Resort Hotel.

Chef Dan Martin is also a graduate of Johnson & Wales Culinary School with over thirty years of experience. Dan was the executive chef at The White Elephant on Nantucket and the executive chef at the Brookside Resort and Golf Club on Cape Cod. Chef Dan is a consulting chef for Essential Chefs and is currently the executive catering chef at the Boston Public Library as part at The Catered Affair. The Boston Public Library hosts many political parties for dignitaries around the world as well as events for famous celebrities.

Chefs John and Dan have a vast amount of experience working with world-class chefs in a variety of restaurants and resort hotels. They have been exposed to and trained in many different types of cuisine and have developed their own style and technique. Their talented staff has a strong passion for food and they are constantly striving for perfection. Their featured menus are only a starting point – a collection of some possibilities. The sky is the limit when creating your special day and we encourage you to work with our chefs to transform your dream event into a delicious reality.

We work with florists, ice sculptors, photographers, lighting consultants, tent companies, etc. – preferred partners that we have worked with over the years at some of the most beautiful venues and private estates throughout MA and NH. They are talented, dedicated, and well-respected in their fields. Creating the perfect event is like performing music in a symphony orchestra – it is a team effort and the whole cannot exist without all of the individual players working seamlessly together.
